Mark believes that Steve has arrested the wrong man and helps him get out of jail on bail. Then Mark finds out that Steve was right and the man is after Steve.

Mark, Steve, Jesse, and Amanda are held hostage. Steve is seriously wounded.

Mark and Steve are both injured. Steve seriously injured.

A relative of Lynn Conklin's (Love Is Murder) who is also a psycho goes after Steve.

Steve is stabbed and Mark has to save his son's life.

Steve is injured by a drunk driver.

Steve has an evil double who with help with his coconspirators takes Steve, and the evil double takes over Steve's life. Maybe at the same time Jesse's father could be visiting and the evil double and coconspirators could have a plan to kill Jesse's father figuring no one would suspect Jesse's best friend of killing his father.

Steve and several other police officers in his precinct are seriously ill. Mark, Jesse, and Amanda have to figure out the cure before it is too late.

How has the lives of Mark and Steve changed now that Carol has been murdered? How have Jesse and Amanda been able to help them?

After an exhausting day at work for both Mark and Steve they both arrive home very tired. They get into an argument over something trivial. The next day before they can work things out one of them is injured (I would prefer Steve) how does the other one
(I would prefer Mark) cope with his feelings of guilt?

Steve is injured in an airport garage. Outside California. His identity is taken. When he wakes up he has amnesia and is reluctant to let the doctors check into his identity because he has a vague memory of his recent past. He was on an undercover assignment and he's afraid that the police will arrest him. In the mean time Mark gets word that his son didn't show up where he was supposed to be. And they have no idea where he is.

While Ellen is almost due with Steve's and Ellen's first baby, Steve is seriously hurt. The anxiety causes Ellen to go into labor. Now Mark has to worry about his son, daughter-in-law, and his grandchild.

Steve is hurt and is in a coma for weeks or maybe longer. How does Mark cope with his son in a coma for a while? When Steve does wake up how is Mark able to help him recover?

Steve is injured while protecting a crime boss who claims to want to make a fresh start. But really has other motives in mind. Maybe he even taunts Mark while Mark is worrying about his son.

Steve is working on an undercover assignment. He gets hurt and has amnesia. He starts believing he is this person he was pretending to be. He and his "friends" go to the beach house and terrorize Mark, Jesse, and Amanda. Steve doesn't believe Mark when he tries to tell Steve who he is. Steve's "friends" hurt him before they leave and Mark, Jesse, and Amanda have to save Steve, and worry about how he is going to react to them.
 

Campbell the man responsible for Carol Sloan's murder has Steve held hostage until his demands are met. Or he could have Steve severely hurt in retaliation for sending him to jail.

Steve is on vacation for several days so Mark is not concerned when he doesn't hear from him. When he is overdue to come back Mark begins to get nervous. Jesse and Amanda are at the Beachhouse eating lunch when they hear a loud noise from outside. They go out to investigate. Steve is laying on the driveway unconscious. Mark turns him over and notices that Steve has several needle marks on his arms. Mark Jesse and Amanda have to help Steve overcome his addition and at the same time figure out what happened to Steve.
